THE LINE is a film that explores the intersection of sexual identity, power and violence. How do we negotiate our boundaries as sexually liberated women? How much are we desensitized to sexual violence? Through conversations with football players, educators, survivors of violence, prostitutes, and attorneys, this personal film explores the “grey area” and the elusive line of consent. "The media, universities and the military aren’t the only institutions rife with rape myths. Health care institutions are also guilty of perpetrating them. As Karen Carroll explained (and audience members affirmed), all too often health care providers (HCPs), such as ER personnel, fail to remain objective when assessing and treating rape victims — they too have preconceived notions of what a victim “looks” like. But because HCPs are usually among the first points of contact for victims, it is absolutely vital they are compassionate and objective. Otherwise, they run the risk of discouraging victims from pursuing medical treatment and/or justice."

Details are still being worked out, BUT we are organizing a Take Back the Night March on Wednesday, September 14th. We want to come together as a community to speak out against recent assaults and attempted assaults in South Slope/Park Slope/Windsor Terrace/Greenwood Heights and surrounding areas.
